Day 1                               ARRIVAL HOBART – AIRPORT TRANSFER

 Welcome to Tasmania! Your private chauffeur will greet you at Hobart Airport and transfer you to your accommodation. Enjoy a day at leisure and you might like to allow time to visit Tasmania’s famous attraction, MONA. The Museum of Old & New Art is one of the world’s most unique and controversial museums. View the largest private art collection in Australia with its fascinating blend of ancient and modern art.

Day 2                               HOBART – LAKE ST CLAIR – STRAHAN 

Your guide will meet you at 8.30am in the reception are of your accommodation. Your first day will take you into the heart of Tasmania’s World Heritage wilderness. Along the way, stop at ‘The Wall’, a unique art project where sculptor Greg Duncan is creating a 100 meter long wall of wooden relief sculpture depicting Tasmania’s stories. At Lake St. Clair it will be time to step out to enjoy the fresh alpine air along the shores of Australia’s deepest lake. Before reaching the quaint village of Strahan on the West Coast, stop at Franklin River and the stunning Nelson Waterfalls.

Day 3                               STRAHAN – GORDON RIVER CRUISE – CRADLE MOUNTAIN

Cruise across Macquarie Harbour to the tranquil reaches of the Gordon River, which is sure to be one of the highlights of your Tasmanian sojourn. First stop is Heritage Landing in the rainforest, where you will take a walk among ancient temperate rainforest trees, many of them Gondwanan relicts. You can then explore the convict world of Sarah Island, the site of Tasmania’s most remote and notorious convict settlement. On your return to Strahan, travel to famous Cradle Mountain. In the evening you might be lucky and spot some of Tasmania’s wildlife in their natural habitat.

Day 4                               CRADLE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK – DOVE LAKE

This morning’s activity is a bush walk in the National Park on the Dove Lake Circuit (2.5 hrs) where you immerse yourself in the beauty of this majestic setting. Learn about native flora and fauna along the way, with highlights including the ballroom forest and lakeside beaches.

Day 5                               CRADLE MOUNTAIN – LAUNCESTON – FREYCINET PENINSULA

After breakfast, leave Cradle Valley for your journey to Launceston. Enjoy an introduction to Launceston before exploring the scenic Cataract Gorge where the South Esk River forces its way through sheer rocky cliffs. Continue to Tasmania’s East Coast, with its exceptional beauty, pristine white sandy beaches and granite coastline.

Day 6                               FREYCINET NATIONAL PARK

Today, there will be ample time to explore the unsurpassed beauty of the Freycinet Peninsula and take an interpreted walk to the world famous Wineglass Bay lookout for some stunning photo opportunities. A shorter cli­ff top walk around the lighthouse at Cape Tourville is also on offer.

Day 7                               MARIA ISLAND

Continue your journey along the scenic East Coast to the seaside village of Triabunna. Board the ferry and cross the Mercury Passage to Maria Island. Enjoy a day of peaceful walking along historic ruins, sweeping bays, rugged fossil cliffs and imposing mountains. Watch for the island’s resident wombats and kangaroos! In the afternoon you will return to Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city.

Day 8                               MOUNT FIELD NATIONAL PARK – BONORONG

Today, travel to Bonorong Wildlife Park to experience Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Wallabies, Echidnas, Quolls and other Australian animals first hand. Continue to Tasmania’s oldest National Park, Mt Field. Explore the green forest canopy of the National Park with a rainforest walk to Russell Falls. Here you crane your neck to see some of the tallest trees in the world.

Day 9                               SALAMANCA MARKETS – AIRPORT TRANSFER

Enjoy a free day in Hobart until your transfer to Hobart Airport.  You might want to stroll through Hobart’s legendary Salamanca Markets, set among the colonial sandstone architecture, this vibrant and colourful market is one not to be missed. (Saturdays only)
