Meet your private guide at 9 am in the lobby of your accommodation. Enjoy an introduction to Tasmania’s capital by visiting the Salamanca area and Battery Point. Learn everything about Hobart’s History while your guide outlines some of the historic buildings around the city. Enjoy lunch at an iconic brewery restaurant with a view of Kunanyi/Mount Wellington. After lunch, detour via the summit of Kunanyi for great views of Hobart and the South of Tasmania, before diving into the dark history of Hobart as a convict island by attending the very informative Convict Women’s Tour, the story of Sarah Manson at the Cascade Female Factory. This tale is brought to life with a 40-minute tour that ties together historical accounts of six different characters at the Female Factory who experienced both tragedy and triumph inside the prison walls. As they are guided around Yard 1 of the Female Factory, visitors are immersed in the hardships of convict life and the strength of character many convict women had to persevere.
