Maria Island is an animal heaven with an abundance of wildlife and history. Meet the Island’s resident Wombats, Forester Kangaroos, Cape Barren Geese and Wallabies freely roaming around. Enjoy the opportunity to take your pictures of the Painted Cliffs or Fossil Cliffs and stunning white sandy beaches all in a single day.

Your day begins at 7:45 am, when your private guide greets you at your accommodation. Set off along Tasmania’s stunning East Coast, winding your way to the charming seaside village of Triabunna. From here, board the Spirit of Maria ferry and cruise across the tranquil waters of the Mercury Passage to reach the breathtaking Maria Island National Park—a short journey that feels like stepping into another world. Spend the day exploring this natural paradise on foot. Wander through quiet eucalyptus forests, discover historic ruins, marvel at dramatic fossil cliffs, and soak in the panoramic views from pristine beaches and mountain lookouts. Keep an eye out for Maria Island’s unique and friendly wildlife, including wombats, Forester kangaroos, and Cape Barren geese. At around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the island’s serene settings. After a full day immersed in nature and history, return to Hobart by late afternoon, arriving around 4:30 pm.
