Day 1                           ARRIVAL HOBART & MT WELLINGTON / KUNANYI

Welcome to Tasmania! Arrive at Hobart airport and pick up your rental vehicle. Spend the day exploring Tasmania’s capital. Hobart is a quaint city which features many preserved colonial sandstone buildings. Take a scenic drive to the alpine wilderness of Mt Wellington (Kunanyi), the 1270m peak, which provides the dramatic backdrop to the city and offers stunning views (weather dependent). In the evening you might like to venture out to indulge in Tassie’s local produce. Treat yourself to some fresh seafood, visit one of the many local breweries and distilleries or go for a short walk to North Hobart – Tassie’s version of Melbourne’s Lygon Street or Sydney’s King Street. Day 2                           HUON VALLEY

In the morning you might like to take a stroll over the popular Salamanca Market (Saturdays only), where you will find quality local handcraft, food and music. Travel into the picturesque and fertile lands of the Huon Valley. Visit the first alembic copper still in Australia, purpose-built for making apple brandy. Follow the coastal road into the quaint township of Cygnet which lies between the beautiful D’Entrecasteaux Channel on one side and the majestic Huon River on the other. You have the opportunity to enjoy cider tastings and visit other fine providores to sample unique and award-winning cheeses.

Day 3                                       BRUNY ISLAND

Bruny Island is a peaceful oasis where time seems to standstill. Only a short ferry ride from the coastal town of Kettering, but it is a world away. Enjoy a day of stunning scenery and indulge in quality local produce, such as freshly shucked oysters, delicious berries, chocolate and cheese. You might want to relax at an award-winning winery for a gourmet lunch. Bruny has got everything your heart desires!

Day 4                                       WINE & WHISKY / COAL RIVER VALLEY

Discover the charming historic village of Richmond, just a short drive from Hobart nestled in the Coal River Valley Wine Region. As you stroll around its well-preserved colonial architecture become immersed in the nostalgia of colonial times. Enjoy lunch on a scenic award-winning winery and sample some of the region’s wines. Visit one of Australia’s leading distilleries and hear about the craft of whisky distillation at the historic cellar door. After you have been fortified with a taste of their single malt, continue to the winner of the 2014 World Whisky Award for best single malt. Sullivan’s Cove’s French Oak Cask was judged the global winner, as well as Australia’s best, from a high-quality pool of single malt entries.

Day 5                                       HOBART – FREYCINET PENINSULA

Continue to the sunny east coast of Tasmania passing through small coastal villages Orford, Triabunna and Swansea. You might like to stop at a local berry farm or one of the best cellar doors to enjoy Tasmania’s cold climate wines. Upon arrival on the Peninsula, explore Freycinet National Park and talk a walk up to the Wineglass Bay look out for stunning view over one of the 10 world’s best-rated beaches and the Tasman Sea.

Day 6                                       FREYCINET PENINSULA – LAUNCESTON

After breakfast, leave the unsurpassed beauty of Tasmania’s east coast and make your way into the picturesque northern Tasmania wine region, home to Josef Chromy Wines state-of-the-art winery, located in the estates original 1880’s homestead. Go behind the scenes and learn the traditional method of how sparkling wine is made. During this unique experience indulge in tastings and work with the winemaking team in the laboratory. Choose and add liquor to produce a bottle of sparkling to your own taste to enjoy on the day. Conclude this experience with a lunch with matched wine. Visit the scenic Cataract Gorge where the South Esk River forces its way through sheer rocky cliffs.

Day 7                                       LAUNCESTON

Today it is time to bid our beautiful island farewell and end your culinary experience. Learn about the local truffle industry on a farm tour. Follow this with a beer lover’s tour at Boag’s brewery, where you will learn about the secrets of beer making at one of Tasmania’s oldest and best breweries. Meander through the Tamar Valley wine region before return your hire car at Launceston Airport.
