Stroll through forested gullies along historic tracks and explore Tasmania’s flora and fauna on some shorter bushwalks before returning to your accommodation in Hobart.

Day 2

TASMAN PENINSULA – CAPE HAUY

Get ready for some of the most spectacular coastal lookouts in Tasmania. Today’s walk takes you to Cape Hauy. Skirt the rocky coastline before heading in land into the She Oaks and Banksia scrub of this beautiful lower coastline. The forest then opens to the undulating slopes of Cape Hauy. The steepest part of today’s walk is down onto the cape. Venture out to the tip of the cape, where views stretch out over sea cliffs, and you may catch a glimpse of brave rock climbers tackling the Totem Pole and other dolerite columns while islands rise from the sea. Retrace your steps from here to where the white sands of Fortescue Bay beg for a bracing swim.

Today’s walk is 4 hours / 9.4 km return
Grade 3: Some bushwalking experience recommended.  The well-maintained track has short, steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps.

Accommodation: IBIS Styles, Hobart or similar (Deluxe room)

Day 3

HARTZ MOUNTAINS

Today, travel into the fertile lands of the Huon Valley and further south into the Hartz Mountains National Park. Within Hartz Mountains National Park, waterfalls tumble off the high backbone of dolerite, which was covered by a deep layer of ice during the last Ice Age. The resulting features include small glacial lakes and cirques that dot the alpine plateau, making this a wonderfully dramatic place to visit year-round.

Today’s walk 3-5 hours return, 7.4km, 400m climb in elevation
Grade 4: Bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep.

Accommodation: IBIS Styles, Hobart or similar (Deluxe room)

The majesty of Russell Falls is revealed after a short stroll through the lush temperate eucalyptus forest. Return to Hobart in the afternoon, where the tour ends at approximately 5 pm.

Today’s walk is a 2-2.5 hrs / 6 km circuit
